Leitrim County Council must remain as it is.

That’s according to County Councillor Enda McGloin who has hit out at recommendations made in the An Bord Snip Nua report, suggesting the amalgamation of certain local authorities.

There are fears that Leitrim’s county council may be amalgamated with Sligo if the recomendations are adopted.

The report also called for the number of VECs to be reduced.

Cllr McGloin says that the county structure not be changed.
