This course provides a Basic Introduction to Computer Literacy, and Learners who successfully complete this module will:
- Understand the essential elements of computer hardware and software.
- Operate common computer applications.
- Demonstrate good work habits in the use and care of the computer and related equipment.
The units covered in this course are:
Computer operation and use
- Describe the component parts of a computer system.
- Describe the uses of common software applications.
- Operate computer, with due attentation to safety procedures.
Introduction to Word Processing
- Load a word processing system.
- Key in text to specification.
- Print a document.
Introduction to E-mail
- Create an e-mail.
- Send and Forward an e-mail.
- Add attachments, such as documents, music or pictures.
Introduction to the Internet
- How to access the internet.
- Find useful information.
- Shop and pay bills online.
Qualification
FETAC Level 3 Award
Schedule
2 hour classes for 7 consecutive Wednesday evenings, 7-9pm.
