Motor insurance companies need to be brought to task about the recent incident involving a good Samaritan deed at a Leitrim accident.
That’s according to Fianna Fail Senator Keith Swanick who raised the issue in the Seanad yesterday.
Senator Swanick said the public has been very generous in helping Paul Egan who lost his car after the roof had to be cut off to remove a patient involved in an earlier road accident who had been sheltering there.
The accident happened at Keshcarrigan in Co Leitrim at the end of last month, and Mr Egan who is from Sligo, was the first to come on the scene.
While funds have been raised to help him recoup the loss of his car, Senator Swanick says Mr Egan has apparently been told by his insurance company that they’ll treat the incident as a claim on his policy when he renews it:
