A local suicide prevention group is appealing for state funding as the numbers contacting it is on the rise.
North West Stop, which serves seven counties including Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon, was contacted by around 300 people last year.
The organisation, which relies totally on fundraising and donations, ensures that anyone in crisis is seen by a therapist within 48 hours.
But Emma O’Hagan, a volunteer with the group, says that with more people being referred to its services, the lack of funding is taking its toll.
