Large turnout in Carrick-on-Shannon to view plans for new streetscape

It’s hoped that a major rejuvenation plan fort Carrick-on-Shannon town centre will solve the major issues of car parking in the town.

Dozens of people attended a public information session last night hosted by Leitrim County Council about the €3 million euro upgrade of the town’s streetscape scheduled to begin this year.

The public consultation phase of the plan ends on the 31st of January with engineers and planners very pleased with the overall turnout at the event.

There has been some concern that parking in front of many businesses will be curtailed as a result of wider footpaths while over 100 spaces is to be provided at the site known as Flynn’s field.

Businessman Gerry Reynolds told Shannonside FM he’s been impressed with the blueprints.
