The Health and Safety Authority carried out over 300 inspections across the Shannonside region last year
12 visits took place at workplaces in Roscommon following a reported serious accident or complaint to the HSA.
Initial figures suggest no fatal workplace accident occurred in the Shannonside region last year.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has overall responsibility for the administration and enforcement of health and safety at work in Ireland.
According to figures released to Shannonside FM under Freedom of Information, in 2018 a total of five fatal or non-fatal accidents were investigated by the statutory body across Longford, Leitrim or Roscommon last year.
Overall the authority investigated 25 cases of fatalities, serious accidents or complaints – with 12 in Roscommon, seven in Leitrim and six in Longford.
The total number of accidents and complaints lodged with the HSA about workplaces in Longford were 22 last year, 14 in Roscommon and 7 in Leitrim.
Verbal advice was given to 61 employers in Longford last year, 36 in Roscommon and 24 in Leitrim while a total of 15 prohibitions notices and agreed prohibition notices were served by the HSA including nine in Roscommon and four to businesses in Leitrim.
