Sinn Fein to hold Carrick-on-Shannon local election convention on Sunday

Sinn Féin will hold its Carrick-on-Shannon selection convention for the local elections on Sunday night. It’s taking place in the Bush Hotel at 8.30.

Though nominations don’t close until tonight, it’s expected Mohill-based councillor Séadhna Logan will be elected unopposed. But it has emerged there will be a contest for Fine Gael’s convention for the Boyle electoral area in the Percy French Hotel, Strokestown, tomorrow night.

Andrew Reynolds, Councillor Liam Callaghan and former Boyle town councillor Keith Suffin have all been nominated, but the party has decided only two candidates will be selected.
