The Breffni players present Sean O Casey’s classic play
The Breffni Players present a play that demonstrates Sean O’Casey’s greatness as an entertaining playwright in the way he portrays the lives of the people living in the shadow of the Easter rising in the slums and tenements of 1916 Dublin.
O’Casey presents the hustle and bustle of everyday life in those tragic times with Dublin characters who, with frantic energy, dominate the play with colourful speech in comic and tragic situations. This all adds up to O’Casey’s intention of providing a highly entertaining play. This unique play caused uproar in the Abbey Theatre when first staged there and is not to be missed. Produced and directed by Angus Dunne
