Man due to be sentenced today for assault of father of four in Carrick-on-Shannon

A man is due to be sentenced today for the assault of a father of four in a pub in Carrick on Shannon over three years ago

Last November, Carrick on Shannon Circuit court heard details of an assault on Kevin Hunt who is now wheelchair-bound and requires extensive medical care.

John McDonagh, of 1 Orchard Court, Leitrim village, had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the tradesman at Little Glancey’s pub in Carrick on December 8th 2015.

The court heard that the victim remained on the premises after the assault and did not get medical assistance until a number of hours later.

The sentencing hearing was adjourned in February after the court was told that medical reports on the injuries sustained by Mr. Hunt would need to be shared between the prosecution and defence.
