Leitrim County Council is still not in a position to take charges fully of a number of estates in Carrick-on-Shannon where residents have expressed frustration over roads and sewerage.
This month’s meeting of the local authority was told that the council may be in position to take charge of the roads network in some estates, such as Mt temple Mews, Marist Convent, Mt St Josephs and the Marymount and Sinnan apartment areas.
A council official told the meeting that following legal advice, an agreement may be reached to take the roads in charge in order to help deal with serious surface issues but a way-leave would not allow them take control of the sewerage system
Councillor Finola Armstrong McGuire, who raised the issue, says the response of the Council is something of a blow to the residents.
