Leitrim county council is proposing to close roads either side of Killavoggy Bridge for a month in the autumn to allow maintenance works to be carried out on it. The bridge closure is planned to take place from Monday the 9th of September to Friday the 8TH of November.
The local authority had identified four bridges in need of major works over a year ago including Killavoggy and Lennox bridges, but they said there was no funding available in the council budget to carry out the works.
Funding was approved in early February this year for allow for the works , including €200,000 for Killavoggy and €400,000 for Hartley Bridge at Carrick-on-Shannon.The work on Killavoggy, between Drumkeeran and Dromahair will involve the closure of the local road L820 on either side of the bridge.
Anyone who has any issue with the closure must lodge their objection with the council on or before Friday the 16th of this month at 4pm.
