Drumshanbo cherry blossom trees might face the axe

Leitrim County Council has approved a motion for a tree surgeon to review the health of the cherry blossom trees in Drumshanbo.

Councillor Enda McGloin told members of the Ballinamore Municipal meeting today that some of the trees, which are approximately fifty years old, aren’t as sparkling new as they should be.

The councillor says that although they have a short blossoming life, they are part of the town’s history.
