The Minister for Integration has given a commitment to Ballinamore locals that the development of accommodation for asylum seekers in the town will be paused.
Representatives from the Ballinamore Community Group met Minister David Stanton yesterday to discuss plans to accommodate over 100 asylum seekers in the South Leitrim town.
According to a statement issued to Shannonside FM, the Minister has committed to engaging with the community ahead of any further developments at the planned accommodation.
The community group has also confirmed that a silent demonstration at the rock quarter will continue.
