The Ballinamore Community Group says discussions with the Minister of State and officials from his Department of Integration will continue.
A delegation representing the community met with officials and Minister David Stanton yesterday to try and find a solution to the accommodation of asylum seekers in the Leitrim town.
A joint statement says the meeting was constructive and open and the group articulated the community’s support for asylum seekers and to finding an appropriate accommodation solution in their town.
Both sides have agreed to meet again in the coming days to continue discussions.
