Over two hundred fewer people last month were unemployed in Leitrim compared to August.
The live register figures for September reveal that Longford and Roscommon also recorded drops in the number of people unemployed in September.
September’s live register figures reveal that in County Leitrim last month, 1,158 were unemployed or receiving some form of assistance from the government – a drop of 229 on figures for August.
The figures are sometimes explained by students returning to college – however, in 2018, the figure decreased by just one-hundred-and ten between August and September.
In Longford, the live register figures decreased by a total of fifty-four with just over 2,518 people unemployed in the county last month.
The figure was in contrast to the 2018 difference between August and September, when the register dropped by two-hundred-and-seventy-three.
In County Roscommon, the numbers unemployed also dropped from 2,200 to 2,116 and like Longford, in 2018, 242 fewer people signed on between August and September last year.
In Athlone the September live register figures dropped by 266 and in Mullingar it dropped by 285 from August.
